Canadian Pacific Railway currently has their fleet of heritage equipment on a "Canada 150" tour. The train has been traveling from the west coast since the end of July, setting up shows in communities along the route, with various Canadian artists performing on the stage car. The highlight of course is the 17 car consist from the heritage fleet, behind an A-A-B-A lash up of F units. So much tuscan!  :D

I caught the festivities at Gage Park in Hamilton yesterday, here are some highlights:

Gotta hand it to CP, they still know how to put on a good show, all while linking communities across this vast country.

After the show packed up, we headed over to the Wentworth St crossing, where we caught the train doing a back-up move to the ex TH&B Aberdeen Yard to tie down for the night. The train will make its way towards Toronto for a show Friday evening, then highball to Montreal for a Sunday afternoon show at the Old Port. The following Sunday will be the final show in the nation's Capital, Ottawa.

One can only hope!   :)

I've been led to believe that the Empress has been well tended to during her downtime, other than needing a boiler inspection/certificate.
Because why not...

Here are some recent prototype shots I took.

D&RGW class C-19 2-8-0 #346 and a pair of Jackson & Sharp coaches from the D&RGW Chili Line (Antonito, CO to Santa Fe, NM) at the Colorado Railroad Museum (CRRM):

Former Denver South Park & Pacific 2-8-0 #51 painted as Denver, Leadville & Gunnison #191 at the CRRM.  The DL&G operated the DSP&P lines from 1889 to 1898 before being taken over in turn by the Colorado & Southern.

This Sunday we went to the Georgetown Loop Railroad again (my third time).  Built in the 1880s by the Geogretown, Breckenridge & Leadville Railway, the loop takes 4.5 miles of track to connect Silver Plume with Georgetwon, separated by roughly 2 miles horizontally and 640 feet vertically.  The original loop was abandoned by the Colorado & Southern in 1938 and dismantled in 1940.  In the 70s it was reborn, with the famous Devil's Gare high bridge being rebuilt in 1984.

It's always nice to get a heritage unit through town. The last UP unit I saw through SLC was the KATY a few years ago between Ogden and and Salt Lake heading south. I thought I read somewhere UP is going to repaint and renumber them. I hope that's not the case.

Speaking of "lead unit", this went by five minutes ago:

Today is apparently a banner day for heritage units here.

I wish UP would repaint their heritage units, but this time do them NS style and not those silly paint schemes they used the first time around.
