Are we storing them on TRW now?

Yeah, I'm not sure why it is people are worried about photo storage when a good hardrive with a backup is what you need and then images you want to post online can be done here, Flickr, Imgur or elsewhere.
I've never dreamt of putting all of my photos on some online photo storage site.

Yes I think I mean hosting.  My photos are all on my HDD and backed up but I don't know where to put them for then purpose of posting them in this forum, or other forums I frequent.

For over 15 years I am using a web hosting service (Tripod). First it was free but for the last 10 years I pay $5 a month.
Pros: no Photobucket disaster
Cons: $60 a year (they never increased the fees, just the amount of storage I can use)

Put your Railwire-related images here, and maybe use Flickr for everything else.  I use iCloud, which is great for backing things up but not for sharing.

It now costs $400.00 a year to use. Have you been off line the last month?

I really don't know who Hunter Harrison is other than what I've read on TRW. I'm assuming he is not a good CEO and ruins companies, I'm starting to think he has a side gig over at photobucket though. :ashat:

For photos I want to post here, I still use Google Photos (www.googlephotos.com) with no problems whatsoever.

After you upload your photo, you go to it, right click on it and then click "copy image location"...come back here and paste the location in your post (it will be an insanely long address) and type " ?jpg " (minus quotes) without a space on the very tail-end of the address.

Highlight the entire address, and go to the posting menu above the box where you're typing your post, and click the " insert image" icon.

Voila!!  You're set!

If you want to mess with the size of your image as it shows up here, in the address you'll find a "w" and a "h" with numbers behind them.  adjust the "w" number (width) to what size you want and the "h" (height) will automatically adjust itself so your photo will appear properly proportioned.

Although I've got photos at various other photo storage sites, I still prefer the simplicity of Google Photos for my basic posting and access needs...and I'm betting that Google will be staying around for a good, long while.

As for storing my photos, I have several dedicated external hard drives where mine get stored.  REALLY important photos also get copied onto archival quality CD's, DVD's and now Blu Ray discs.  I don't trust the cloud yet, but now that I've moved and my internet connection is ten times faster than it was, maybe I'll give that a try.  But, I'd still opt for dedicated external HD's and hard copies on media...even if I trusted the cloud.

Cheerio!

Since we now have the ability to host the photos here, if the photo is only going to be used on this forum the absolute easiest way to host photos is here on this forum! You can attach images to a post you are composing or upload them to your photo gallery (either while you are composing the message or go to the gallery itself, or as a separate operation). You can even drag-drop the photos from your computer directly to your gallery. The TRW software even automatically resizes them to a size appropriate for the forum.  Can't be easier than that, and the photo will always be visible in the posts (no more broken links when some external hosting site decides to move the photos or stop providing free or reasonably priced 3rd party hosting as did Photobucket).
