MU Hose Details?

With Atlas replenishing the former BLMA detail parts in fits and starts, at the moment there appears to be a shortage of MU hose clusters, among other etched items. My first alternative go-to was Gold Medal who offers a very complete line of etched N diesel details... but not MU hoses. Can anybody suggest another source? Thanks!

Even before the Atlas shortage I switched over to TrainWorx #101 pilot detail set. The mu hoses are finer and the cut levers are finer and easier to install. They also have better looking grab irons.

Thanks, Karl. You're right, those are nice. Somehow I wasn't aware of Trainworx' line of detail parts. For that matter, it could easily be that Atlas is delaying reissuing some of the BLMA detail parts precisely because there is an available alternative.

I shall go forth and order a bunch. Much appreciated!

There are two types of "hoses" on the front & rear of diesels. The largest is the brake pipe hose that's usually right next to the coupler. Don't forget this one or you won't be able to stop your train! >} The smaller ones are the MU hoses & there can be 3-4 depending on the diesel type. Always check prototype photos to see what's on your type of diesel & where they are actually located.

Andy, I think most of us here know that. The BLMA train line hoses are still available from (or have been restocked by) Atlas. The smaller MU lines are another issue, and were what I was addressing here.

No, MU hoses are air lines, similar in design to the air brake line, but smaller. The MU cable is a larger cable (often yellow or red) that hooks higher up, usually right above or below the anticlimber.

On Baldwins, the electrical connection was /below/ the mu hoses
