There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away

No idea, but my first guess would be 33 inches.  That seems to have been standard on GN's tenders, regardless of the trucks.

My first thought was "Water tanks have wheels?", then I realized you must mean auxiliary tenders, not trackside storage facilities...

OK, guess the UP and GN thought differently, which isn't surprising.

Those water tanks had have an interesting life, they started life as water tenders for FEF and Challengers, then UP converted them to be fuel tenders for the turbines, so they added heaters in them to keep the bunker C from losing viscosity. UP them turn them back to water tenders for steam program. There is a third one at Cheyenne thats probably going to get the same treatment for used with the Big Boy.
