I never thought I'd miss them, but they essentially have two models of road power, AC4400's and ES44AC's; it's tough to get interested in foaming CP these days. The former SOO SD60/60M's now in the CP 6200 series are about all that's left for non-GE variety... and SD30ECO's. The SD90's are all stored and though they were supposed to be rebuilt, they're probably never going to run again. Last I heard CP has over 600 units out of service/stored. Heck, there is only one of their first order of 84 AC4400's still running (9500-9583 built in 1995)... many are on shop trucks having had their rollerblades removed and placed under ES44AC's in the 8700-8759 series (these were built with steerable trucks that require more maintenance that the riding ones).

You know, every time I hear this kind of talk, I remember something @Dave Vollmer said at a RailBQ a few years ago as we all moaned at the monotony of another train of GE fatheads pulling.... Wait for it..... Pigggybacks and stacks! He mentioned that if this were 60 years earlier on the same stretch of track, we'd all be saying, "Good lord, another M1?"

Caught some Erie Lackawanna hoppers at the end of an NS rock train in April of last year. Was on my mind this weekend when I found a few Atlas N scale 90 ton hoppers in a couple of fallen flags. I thought, "Hey, I have a photo of something like that!"

Yes... except the M1 was unique to the PRR, whereas the cookie cutter GE's are unique to no road. It is homogenized to the point of no escape... on the class ones at least.
