I use Peco track and switches, so the little narrow wheel gauge works perfect on my railroad. I'm glad all the N-scale locos that I purchase are narrow, even Kato, this way I don't have to adjust them. 
This is what changed my mind into getting a set.  Spookshow review = (A).

Yes, Atlas C55 turnouts are built to much tighter tolerances than mos other brands. They are probably using the NMRA specs.  I still like to properly gauge wheels to eliminate any possible problems when taking the models to visit guest layouts (as I don't have a layout, all my models are nomadic).   

Funny thing is that while I have been using (and recommending) Spookshow's cyclopedia for references, I never noticed he doesn't even mention the wheel gauge in his reviews.  I guess it is not that important to him.

Peco track and properly gauged wheels get along just fine.  But the looser tolerances also accept narrow gauged wheels.

the stock photos online @ several hobby shops show the "A-A" units with single stripes
and the individual "A" units with 5 stripes

is that the way they come or are the photos not accurate?

On the PRR, the Centipedes were always operated as drawbar connected pairs, never as single units. This was true for both the as-delivered 5-stripe passenger service, and the downgraded single stripes in freight and helper service.

According to my copy of "Pennsy Diesels" the A and B units were a set that had to be run together. The A's had equipment that the B's required. B's had equipment that was needed by the A's. A's were interchangeable as well as B's were. but there had to be an A and a B unit.

I could be wrong...... but IIRC stuff like this happened because of taxes.
EMD FTs, FM Erie Builts, and maybe the Centipedes were designed to all be ONE locomotive (not two or three).
And if I remember correctly, early FTs were actually draw-barred together-- until that became a maintenance nightmare.

I'd like to see a post from someone who ran the Centipedes on N-Trak modules at a show.  These beasts are best suited for that type of running.  So what happened, did they stall all the time or get hung up?

If you read through the earlier messages of this thread, there are few videos posted of these running on layouts.  If you want to see them run on an NTRAK layout there is a video of them posted by Sheila from PRR Nscale modeler's group on Facebook (per message https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=38110.msg460073#msg460073 ).
