Another pair of 730, this time at Newtonville. Kinda gives an idea of the length of these things. The approximate distance from CN 3005 to where the train disappears around the curve is 7500', iirc.

Nice! I thought the Blue Ridge Southern served that plant now.

They do, the pic is from 2014 before the switch over to BLU. My layout version of this mill is not quite the same, but I still have a ways to go.

Ahhhh. Ok, that makes sense.

BLU seems like a charming little railroad too. Caught them by chance in Asheville when I was there with my wife last November.

The change was odd at first since black diesel have run on the Murphy Branch since the beginning of time. I have grown  to like those black WAMX diesels. I am hoping someone does a GP39 shell or I'll have to eventually do a build, and Kato's SD45 would just need some paint and decals.

It's not daily, but since the first 730 arrived in Montreal at first light on Feb 19, two more have run. The third was on Wed, Mar 2. So looks like ~one per week. The bulk of the empties go back on 305 out of Moncton, with 102 empties making up the tail of 305 over the Kingston Sub Mar 3. Big trains.

CN 148 over the Kingston Sub today was reported as 212 platforms.

Saw it on the 19th leaving Montreal EB over the Lachine Canal around the noon hour, never actually saw any locos.
