Intermountain/Centralia "corrugated" coaches

Forgive me if this was covered elsewhere; a search turned up nothing.
The current issue of RM Craftsman has an ad for the Superdome cars discussed elsewhere here AND "corrugated  coaches" with an odd (to me) window arrangement: three large windows and one small one flanking a blank space in the center. Anyone know what prototype this car is based on? It's apparently available in ten schemes....
Thanks, Otto K.

J LaBoda's site shows it as a (ex-C&O 1641) PS LW 52-seat coach
Thats my guess going off the Amtk numbering, and x-referencing the pics at least... and looks good off their numbering for C&O for that matter.
edit- appears to be a re-release.

Yah, its a Chesapeake & Ohio/Denver & Rio Grande Western prototype, quite similar to but not quite correct for Nickel Plate Road cars.  One thing that they (IM) apparently didn't take into consideration was that many (but not all) of these cars lost their corrugation in later years, with very few of the C&O cars retaining it until Amtrak.  Oddly enough, secondhand cars that were sold DID manage to retain their corrugation into the Amtrak era... just don't understand why other roads were able to keep the Corten rot at bay when C&O couldn't.

These are not the Rowa tooling, they were new tooling cut by Centralia, and this is the second batch.  (Or third?)

These were divided coaches.  The missing middle window on one side corresponded to a dividing bulkhead.  Think Jim Crow.

The window pattern is correct for NKP, but to be fully accurate the corrugations should extend one more flute up toward the window band.

The window pattern is not correct for NKP cars because the NKP cars had the small window to the left end on both sides spaced wider apart than on the C&O cars.  But you are correct about the corrugation being higher on the NKP cars.

Sigh... there are some parts of history I will never model.

To be clear, these are not Jim Crow coaches, but the are set up with two rooms.  I'm not sure why this was done, and I don't think there was a door in the middle of the car.

They may not be perfect for the Nickel Plate, but I'm happy to have them all the same.

I'm sorry Dave, I'm afraid I can't do that.

Can speak for the C&O cars at least.  There was a large view block in the middle to avoid the 'tunnel effect" many passenger cars have, hence the blank space in the middle.

Agreed it was a dark time in our history.
