Bachmann Peter Witt Question
« on: October 30, 2024, 07:06:47 AM »

Can someone tell me how the headlght and backup light function on the N scale Bachmann Peter Witt street car? Is it the typical "headlight is only on in forward, backup light is only on in reverse" setup, or does the headlight stay on all the time (regardless of direction) and only the backup light is truly directional? Also, are there any CVs that affect the stock behavior?

Thanks!
-Mark

I don't have one, that's why I'm asking. The question is from someone else.

Mark,

The headlight stays on even when the car is put in reverse.  I don't know about any CV's, although there might be documentation on the B-mann website.

I don't have my arduino and test track set up and operational, so I can't test this, but here's what little I can tell you from looking at my roster and last CV settings.

Here's the Bachmann sheet on the "E-Z Command decoder" (which is how my JMRI identifies the decoder in my Witt streetcar)

Let me fix that-- https://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/ez_content/1_Amp_Decoder_Instr.pdf

I think that if you play with the levels in CV51 and 52, it may result in the rear light dimming when you reverse.  Of course, CV51 is the 'function' CV, and you need to do some binary to hexadecimal math to figure out what the value should be.

Tom D.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.
