New one is DCC/Sound with knuckle giant boxing-glove couplers.

That is not a knuckle - it is a fist!

Now I feel bad for complaining about the paint on the Kato SD45's!

I'll give you that, but at least the boxing glove will couple to MT's and accumates until one can replace the gloves.  Rapido's not so much

Do they have the traction motor blower duct on the left side or did Bachmann opt out on that again?

:D

I guess I got my answer on the electric pickup, this is what someone posted on Trainboard:

"What I also did with mine is a soldered very tiny magnet wires to each copper pickup tab that contacts the metal frame (not interfering with the frame, but inboard of the frame contact points where there is empty space). Those wires go to the halves of each frame contact point. It's not perfect, but it overcomes the problem of those bendy pickups not contacting the frame."

I thought that the photos on MBK were of HO models.  I just noticed that the EL photo is N scale, the others are definitely HO.  MBK doesn't usually do that.

I did notice the price difference included DCC and sound. That is also why I thought the older ones were better because they didn't come with DCC and sound.

Doesn't  matter to me, I don't  need an SD45.
