hello, I have some ho scale kadee uncoupling magnets, the permanent between the rails kind. question do I laythe magnet on top of the ties or do I cut out the ties and glue the on the road bed? if gluing them to the road bed should they be even with the top of the rail?
thanks
 Mark

The obvious detail is that the top of the magnet cannot be any higher than the top of the rails.
There are several kinds of their magnets. All you need to do is RTFM.  :) Would this be helpful?

LOL YEH the link was very helpful but it does say the magnet mounted for code 100 needs to be 1/64 inches above the rail head
thanks for the tip

I guess this shows that I'm a hardcore N scaler (as is the majority of members in this forum).  The N scale Micro Trains (ex Kadee) uncoupling magnets need to be flush with the railhead.  Maybe because in N scale the uncouping pin comes down to 0.010" above the railhead.  That's pretty darn close to the railhead. In H0 it is probably mounted higher.  I'm glad that you found the instructions helpful. I would follow their advice.  :)

I've mounted mine below the ties. The magnets still work, and it looks SO much better than a magnet sticking up. Try it somewhere before you install, though, and make sure your cars will uncouple over it.
