I may be able to get some of these cars cheap, so I'm wondering how good they are. Anyone have this type car who can offer me some advice?

See:

Hmm... Kiz'll have to
sell some other cars
to make room for 'em...

Two scientists create a teleportation ray, and they try it out on a cricket. They put the cricket on one of the two teleportation pads in the room, and they turn the ray on.
The cricket jumps across the room onto the other pad.
"It works! It works!"

They come with metal wheels and body mounted couplers, and, they have end ramps that are positionable. I recommend them, they're good cars.
I’m not here to argue

I have five.  I'd call them near perfect.   I've had no running problems whatsoever with these.

They have only minor flaw worth mentioning, which is that the hitches for trailers seem to be slightly off in dimension and lean forward.  This sometimes makes it a little difficult to get trailers to sit right.  But it's a very minor issue.

IMHO they are great models! I bought some of them. They are free-rolling without modification, unlike the first Atlas 89' flat car run. (The second run from Atlas hasn't problems.) The hitches and ramps look transparent, but shouldn't the hitches be black anyway? The trailers from Trainworx fit very nicely into the hitches.

But I read somewhere (Atlas-Forum?) that the ATSF model in brown isn't prototypical, just a fantasy model.

If I am correct, the deck shouldn't be brown (or yellow), but tan or off-white like the BLMA models. Can anybody confirm that?

I had a thread about the ATSF cars here: https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=31719.msg353106#msg353106

I have no complaints about mine.  The Trailer Train cars are  probably outdated for a 1974 railroad, but with 40 ft trailers they look fine, and if anyone wants to measure one they can bring their own ruler!

As garethashenden's topic says, they lasted longer as railroad-owned cars, with a GN flat photographed in 1980, and since I model the BN, that's good enough for me.
