BLMA Concrete Segment Module

Hey Guys,

This is not my first attempt at a Module/or Post on this site but, My first one with a Bridge. A lot of though went into planning and building the frame for all of this!

This was the first attempt to use cardboard ribs on a mixture of Elmers glue and water with paper towels.

I would really like some feed back. The track has been glued and the ballast is almost ready to go on. Thanks for looking and any questions are welcomed.

I have seen this photo on Google search so many times. Are you a member of the Silicon group in Cali? Great work on that Module, I  love the grass and the nice still water in it! A+

Hey Guys, As i was out and about today I was able to get some photos of a couple Concrete Segment Bridges out past Elko NV on the UP mainline. This will really help with weathering and seeing how these things age. Some parts of the first one look like its ready to fall apart.

You can see a lot of great detail on the concrete that I will be able to add to my model. I was also questioning whether I put in the inner guard rail but these Mainline Bridges do not seem to have it.

Those are some good shots to work with.

If the guard rails aren't on the prototype you are modeling, why do it? It won't add anything.

I only brought it up since I thought it was standard....... but maybe now a days they do not worry about it anymore. One less thing to stress about LOL.

I can smell Alviso and the tidal marsh.  That is great modelling.

I was able to get the retaining walls built and finished ballasting around them. Also took a couple cars out to photograph as well as the sun has started to set.

It seems as though the bridge has become a little warped. it doesn't seem to affect performance but the eye catches it sadly.

Very nice!  Are you planning to weather the concrete?

Heck yeah Gary!! I am waiting till I get the railings on and then I will start to weather the concrete. The Railing will add some rust streaks vertically down the concrete. Hows your layout coming? When I weather the ballast I will only be weathering the inside this time, nothing on the outside of the rails.

I have also been catching up on Safety Striping cars.

***Section Update***
BLMA Concrete Segment Bridge Section
* The Railing will be installed soon
* Weathering of the Bridge will start
* Ballasting is almost complete
* Weathering of the rails will start
* Add vegetation to Module

For the safety stripes, I am using the MicroScale stuff. Dipped in water, after water has dried I apply a thin amount of dull coat to the car and then weather with powder to dull the yellow down a bit. Does anyone here do it that way, or do most people buy the micro scale adhesives?
