FAQ: Why won't my YouTube links work?

The forum embedding software does not recognize YouTube links that begin with https://. To make the videos work, delete the s in the link, so that you end up with http://.

FWIW I hate embedded youtube videos. I like to click a link and watch the video at youtube. If the video is embedded and I try to watch it at youtube my pop up blocker comes up and I have to allow it and start all over again. Plus I see no reason for it to be embedded in the first place.

It's a recurring issue with many users. Not singling you out.

One less click, with no ads, obnoxious comments or other crap. Myself, I like being able to just see the video.

You can also skip the http and .com part and just put in the id, like:

Somewhat related, the forum software seems to have an issue rendering embedded YouTube videos on iOS devices. They don't show up, and if you click in the space where they should be all you get is the audio.

Go here: http://www.youtube.com/html5

And enable the HTML5 player.  Then, restart Safari.

Something got screwed up in iOS7.  Lots of complaints out there...
