modeling the candy industry

hello anyone modeling the candy industry? I'm in the planning of adding a candy factory using the Walther's George Roberts building with a couple of pre-fab add ons, and some silos, inbound cars of sugar mostly in airslides and the short 2 bay acf covered hoppers

Don't forget to add tanks for corn syrup.  Most modern candy uses plenty of corn syrup, so you will need tank cars for that too.

It's on my list!

We live about 7 blocks down the street from the former PayDay factory. It's now a Duncan-Hines cake mix factory. Just change the sugar cars to flour cars and you pretty much have what's there now.

Tank car of liquid chocolate, box cars for loads of coconut, containers for shipping the candy, etc.  Also cars to haul liquid or solid flavorings.

For outbound loads in the steam and transition eras it would be appropriate to use (dry) ice bunker refrigerator cars.  Candy was a common westbound load for SFRD and (to a lesser extent) PFE reefers.

Hershey has a big rail presence in the eponymous town.

Rail service to the big factory in town has ended, but the plant west of town (on the NS Harrisburg line) still sees service.

From what I remember, they got lots of cars of cocoa beans. These came bagged in 50' boxcars from various ports. There were also a ton of BNSF hoppers hanging around too.

Then there's corn syrup, sugar and some sort of "paste" (I think it was peanut paste for Reese's Cups).
