The UK is part of Europe whether they like it or not...  ;)

Mark, if you need photos I could maybe provide some.

Jim,My 1990 Kato Catalog shows four C57s. The basic #2007 and a 2007-1,2007-2 and 2007-3. Obvious differences are smoke deflectors
and the -1 has a spark arrestor? on the smoke stack and a longer rear overhang on the cab.

Being only a "dash#"and cosmetic differences pretty much explains why they didn't bother listing it-their only interest being in the mechanism. Thanks for the info Al.

When I first starting appreciating steam in N scale. I mean really appreciating it, it was when I got divorced from my first wife, and that was 1986.  I had a financial windfall and got 5 locos via mailorder all Japanese version Kato steam, of which 2 were the C55, and to my surprise as I was not as aware then as I am today, they ran great!!!!

I still have that unit, occasionally running it as I did a mild "americanization" (decals) and it runs like the day I got it.

BTW, other units I got with that order were the 2-8-2, and 2-6-0, and all are still intact.

Kato-Japan sells an interesting looking book from their website - "KATO N-Gauge Models Archives"(a genuine history book of KATO model production). I just wish they offered an English language version  :(

Cheers,

I lump the UK in with Europe. It's all "over there" from my perspective  :D

Cheers,
-Mark

UK being an Island it's railroading has been isolated for a long time (until the Chunnel was made)
That's one reason that the modelling is separated between English, Irish, and Continental.
Irish modelling is quite a tiny minority, generally limited to OO.
When it comes to RTR English Locos in N, as of current you are limited to Graham Farish, Dapol, and Union Mills.
