It is a separate piece, but removing it may be difficult.  It has eleven pegs instead of the usual three, and they appear to be firmly locked.  Looks like it would be a delicate operation.

If you have the luxury of being able to wait, my understanding is that MTL plans to (at some point) do versions without roofwalks.

Any roofwalk can be removed with the right tools and enough work.  In this case, the first question is, "Do you want to save the roofwalk?".  If not, the only hard part will be filling the holes so they don't show.  If you want the roofwalk in one piece, it can be done, but you'll have to work carefully.

I replaced both ends of the floor with styrene sheet and body mounted 1025s on brass strips for a simulated cushion underframe.  That's much easier than trying to grind down the odd factory mounting, and looks a lot better than the existing coupler.  The factory coupler comes off easily, and can be used on another car, if you have one that needs a similar coupler.
