Did you leave the rail in the concrete ties while laying them, or did you lay just the tie strip?  If the latter, how do you keep the curves smooth?

Although Ed answered this question, I got to thinking about it because it is possible that the ties are not exactly the same size or the attachment points are slightly different, and laying them against a straightedge will make the ends of the ties against the straightedge straight, but the other side??? Maybe not.  The attachment points?...Maybe not.

BUT, since Ed is laying code 40 rail into ties that are designed for code 55, there is some slop.  Because of that, I think all will be well.

I agree with Gary, "...we are lucky to behold the process."

Wondering the same thing.

As for all the other fluff in here, I will quote Mr. Denton after last year's Trainfest, "At the end of the day, they're still just toy trains."

I've often said "I'm just a grown man, playing with toy trains."...However, some of us play with them hard...as does Mr. Denton.

P.S. Sorry to have dragged Mr Kelly into this.

Hahaha...Lennart, truthfully, I think it was Mr. Kelly who dragged you into it.  :D

The ties are fairly uniform (esp compared to the ME wood tie track, which is more irregular by design).   I did have to trim off some flash, but even so it's still not uniform enough that I would call it 'precision'.   If it weren't for the slop, I'd have to trim off all the rail clips too...

Aren't we all?   :D   As they say, the only time it's "wrong" is if you're not having fun.
