Atlas Forum refugees
« on: May 28, 2012, 08:48:52 PM »
As one of the Atlas Forum refugees I'm wondering if any of the top  :ashat: running this forum have any idea as to approximately how many others like me showed up on this forum after Atlas announced that they were pulling the plug. I'm not counting members who were signed up on both Atlas and Railwire for a long time.  Just curious...

From a quick scan of the member list: there are currently about 900 members registered here.  Prior to the demise of the A-board, there would be ~15 new members signing up each month, but we had ~130 new members sign up in the past month.  Of the new members, roughly 20 have more than 10 posts, and more than half have 0 posts.  In fact, more than a third of all members have 0 posts.

Thanks for the info. 20-30 is probably right on target considering how many active N scalers were posting on the Atlas forum.  When I joined the Railwire I also joined ModelRailroadForums.com but I find myself more attracted to this forum. Must be the A$$hats!  :D

For anybody new, or for anybody that hasn't been posting for a while and had the account hung out, there are still a few quirks like the crew lounge being locked down and any threads are unviewable.   Please be in mind that anything that gets moved out there isn't just inaccessible, the error message makes it sound like you're downright unwelcome here.    I know otherwise, but I've seen people drift off for less rational reasons than that.

Everyone is welcome -- but we have our procedures .. one of those is we move threads that drift off topic to the "crew lounge" because we also don't moderate heavily. One of the other restrictions is that access to various sub-boards is determined by post counts / which means you do your time, contribute, and things will open up for you.

We also purge inactive accounts - if you haven't logged in for 6 months, don't expect your account to be around. It keeps the database cleaned out.

There is also the "Why cant I..." sticky thread in the Administrative Forum that explains pretty much every question that could arise in that topic.
