Hi Mark,

If you want Wiking's John Deere let me know if you have problems getting it. I could get one here in Germany and send it over.

Without knowing the size of those wheels, to me it still looks like GHQ's JD 7800 wheels look close to Mark's photo of the prototype sprayer. GHQ's tires are skinnier and the wheel profile seems closer to Mark's prototype. Wiking model seems to have fatter tires and the wheel profile seems to be different (judging by the photo on their website).

The old Athearn John Deere tractors (Model B, 50 and 60) would be your best bet for the tires.  Standard equipment rear tires on those tractors were 11.0 X 38.

Edit:  The rear tires from the GHQ Super M would also work.  They appear to be either 12.4 X 38 or 13.6 X 38.  Of course the wheels IH heritage will be unmistakable..

We have a mess of them on the shore...  I would think with a front end loader body and some big tractor wheels would do the trick and some random etchings to make the sprayers and what not.  I'd save the finger nail clippings for the gear levers. :ashat:

Interesting unit,  a "Weed Sprayer"?  I assume.

Mark-  How detailed would you need it.    And I will need dimensions...   :)

Anything I build (if I actually do this) would be pretty basic - cab, engine, chassis, wheels, tank and booms. I can't imagine going much beyond that. Sorry, I don't have one parked "out back", so I could only guess at the dimensions. Here's some general information on weed sprayers if you're interested -

Ooops  :o
Let me rephrase that...   Just the basic dimensions.

Most of my Ag equipment has been of the simple variety as well.   As the photo below shows.

All of this equipment is created out of styrene stock pieces.    The Tractor tires are from GHQ and Concor.
The hay wagon is all styrene.

Just looking at the supplied photo, of the prototype.    The Chassis/Cab/Engine and tank would be done out off stryene blocks.  The wheels are larger in diameter then the one's on my Ford Tractors.  They would need a lttle more research.
The booms, would be the only difficult pieces to reproduce.  You could make the "form" of the booms out of blocks and then use a pen to "draw" the lattice work details.
The other way would be to use, the suggested brass/photo etched boom pieces.

Looks like a good shapeways project- with all of the basic shapes it would be failrly easy to model in a CAD program.  Did you look to see if there were some parts already there?
