Yes they are, but the Walthers offering is a model of the old 48' wells which are quickly becoming extinct on the prototype.  The only 53' wells available are the Kato Maxi-IV.  You Z scalers get all the breaks.  ;)

Woo Hoo... we have the good junk!!!  :D

Take a look at this photo. Note I am posting this only to be cruel to those in the larger scales. I think the ends of the containers really shows off what AZL is doing.

I'm hoping the well cars will eventually be released without containers.  While the containers are really nice, I want to pick my own mix of 53' containers for BNSF domestic service and AZL keeps chosing strange mixes of eras and paint schemes for the included containers.

Paint schemes on incorrect body styles?

The ends are nice for sure, but there is an accurate APL paint scheme you could do for a 48' X-Post, instead of the red "big bird" only found on sheet & post (smooth side) containers.

Don't get me started on the 40'ers.

I like this post.  A few extra hours in the research stage probably wouldn't have ruined the schedule on these given how long the time between announcement and original production was.  Luckily there are other more accurate containers on the market so I'm not wandering lost in the desert, but it goes back to wanting the well cars without containers.  I'm not buying more than the 4 cars I have until they are available bare table or have a proper selection of JB Hunt/Hub/Schnieder 53' containers.

I can't argue on the open cars request. I have asked AZL for the same. As for the mixes containers, there is a lot of eye candy there. Plus, manufacturers do have to make compromised at time for liveries on cars and containers. Is it right or wrong? Well it is fun. MCZ offers some great containers so mix and match away!

But let me just say, Mike we will look forward to your orders as additional Thralls are released this year.  :D

It's a NSC car... not a Thrall.
