Got the following information from Walther's regarding my cooked controller.

"In the instructions it states that the motor works best at 15VAC @ 500mA. A minimum of 12VAC is required (but does not really work well) and power input should not exceed 19VAC. The best power source for the bridge motor is the accessory terminals of a standard HO transformer."

Now, I'm assuming that's referring to the as-built electronics, with all sorts of buttons, flywheels, and diodes converting the AC to DC to actually run the motor.  Or, is there such a thing as an AC motor, and if that's the case, how would one approach reversing the direction of it?

Again, my plan is to bypass all the silicon valley wizardry and go right for Ben Franklin's key in a lightning storm approach.

I want to route power to the motor via the contact strips, bypassing the control box and the board under the bridge.  If the motor can operate on DC, I've got a 14v wall wart, a DPDT to set direction, and a momentary contact switch to actuate the motor.  Am I over thinking this, or under thinking it?

This thing is going into surgery on Monday. It's really screwing up working the engine terminal properly.

Lee:
the manual sez AC or DC. The control board has a bridge rectifier that turns the AC to DC or steers the DC properly. I think it also has
a 12 volt regulator which works best at 15 volts or better. Another post toward my goal of 25.

Would like to buy a bridge for the Walthers N-Scale 130' turntable. Non-working OK.
Thanks
