For those who want one, I will be happy for you if they decide to offer it in N scale as well. I just question why we need another single road, large articulated locomotive when there is still a need for so many medium-sized steam locomotives that are missing from the market.

In the past we had the Rivarossi/Con-Cor Big Boy, 2-8-8-0, 2-8-8-2, 4-6-6-4, the Rowa/MRC 2-8-8-2, Atlas 2-8-8-2.
More recently we had the Bachmann 2-6-6-2, LifeLike 2-8-8-2, Athearn Big Boy and Challenger, and Intermountain AC-12 4-8-8-2.

I definitely want one in N. I have strongly considered buying one of the HO loco's for display and inspiration.

I know there are a lot more small steam loco's needed but large steam sells. I honestly think they sell simply because they are facinating to watch. I model the B&O where the biggest thing allowed was a Mikado, but I still want an EM-1.

I need to finish the project above to cement the fact that they will bring it to N.

:|      I just bought several of the Bachmann USRA Light 2-10-2 locos (as opposed to Con Cor's Heavy) wonderful models, they were done in HO Scale first, as were the GE 44T &70T diesels before their release in N so I hold out hope for an N EM1 which I would buy several . Now if they would just do N models of several of their older HO locomotives.I would love an NYC Niagra 4-8-4.                                                                          Nate Goodman (Nato).

The great irony of steam locomotive model manufacturing - that holds true whether we're talking brass imports or injection-molded plastic - is that it costs virtually the same amount of money to produce an 0-6-0 or 2-8-0 as it does a Big Boy or Challenger. Then consider that most sales are to collectors, not layout owners, and ask "Which looks more impressive in the display case, a Yellowstone or a 2-6-0?"
