NC Rail Run 2011, based in Salisbury, NC, and covering layouts in the Piedmont and Triad areas of North Carolina, is taking place September 2-4.
We have received a great response so far and several layouts have "sold out" their operating slots for the event. However, there are still layouts with slots available for anyone who wants to participate in all or some of the event.
This is an operations-oriented event designed to bring experienced operators and novices together to enjoy a weekend of running trains in a prototypical manner. There is no roundy-round running at these sessions, and the jobs can range from rather easy to quite challenging. You can choose to run through freights, thrash around on locals, manage busy yards, or control traffic on an entire railroad from the "hot seat" of the dispatcher's office.
Railroads are in both HO and N Scale and feature railroading as diverse as 1950's Maine branchline traffic to up-to-the-minute Class One mainline operations.
