New MRC #1955 16 Bit Sound/Power for GP Units

Has anyone tried these yet? I like the drop-in idea, but I need to update my frames on some of my existing detailed GP-7's and GP-9's. Which is not a very cost effective way of getting them set up for sound. But I will get the latest low speed motors in the process.

Any thoughts?

Dan

Ok, nothing but crickets on this one....

So, I bought a couple of these myself to try out and got around to installing one today. I am no sound aficianado. Hell even the wife will tell ya I have selective hearing. Anywho, I think these puppies sound pretty good! Plenty of sound options are available and it comes with their new 16 Bit sound files. Motor control is great. I took the opportunity to remove the extra bearing blocks out as well. All in all a two thumbs up!! I just wish I had more of the newer DCC friendly frames......  :D

Could you post a video of a single unit?  I would love to see it in action.

I agree, videos would be great as MRC sound decoders in the past have been somewhat questionable.

Thanks,
Erik

New guy here, be gentle!

I don't know about the decoder you are specifically using, but I installed 1628 MRC sound decoder in an Atlas SD50 last month and the sound was pretty good.  I suspect the 16-bit decoders will improve things even more.  The 1628 runs smoothly and quietly too.  I'll definitely be installing more as money permits.

GENSET
decoder (another 16bit) had three incorrect motor sounds and poor ditchlight wiring that was way to delicate for we mere mortals to install.  Waiting for a better MRC, Tsunami or other manufacturers decoder...
