Peco SL-200 Flex Track

Hi,

Being new to Z, I discovered Peco Z scale flex track. I didn't know that there was something other than Micro Trains flex. Anyway, I bought some of the Peco at Caboose Hobbies when I was there but now, I can't seem to find it online. I'm looking for more of this flex track and switches. Any ideas?

I knew that coming into Z, items were going to be limited but I've also noticed that Z has come a long way within the last few years of when I first started looking at this scale.

Thanks.

Mark

Peco flex is hard to find, but some Z scalers prefer it over Micro-Trains flex because the sections are longer--M-T flex is only a foot. That said, other Z scalers prefer M-T flex because the tie spacing is correct for North American railroads. Offhand I don't know who stocks it, but you may want to have a look at this page and go down the list:

Good luck.

You can order it from Hobby link. The last time I check, it was in stock.

Thank you all for the replies. I have 7 packages of the Micro Train flex track and it's to my understanding that they will no longer have it made for them. I had to find an alternative track to go with and I do like the longer Peco track.

Mark, I dont think you are right. There was never a announcement of it. All the production problems with China has to do with the ballasted sectional track. If you want some of the peco track, I saw one on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.com/Marklin-Z-scale-mini-club-starter-set-peco-track-new-/350410359484?pt=Model_RR_Trains&hash=item519615c2bc

Mark,

Marklin also offers a long track section they call flex. It really isn't. The Peco is much better. I am one of those people who prefer the Peco. I do wish the MTL came in longer sections. I find the MTL sections too short and troublesome when trying to do long sweeping curves.

Although it's more work, this is relatively easy to resolve by soldering two or three lengths of M-T flex together before shaping it.

Hi Shamoo, all I saw in the Ztrack magazine was that "Micro-Trains' locomotive production and track lines will be affected" by Sanda Kan dropping them. I stand corrected if I misinterpreted what they said.

David, you bring up another huge subject I’ve wondered about. Can you successfully solder Z track without serious damage? This was one thing that I always did with my N scale track but was nervous about trying it on the Z track.

I’m with Rob on the Peco track. Longer and more flexible. Like I said, this all is a huge learning experience for me and I’m glad I found this site to help me. You all have been great and I appreciate your input. Oh, by the way, I have 7 brand new packages of Micro-Train flex track if anybody wants it for less than what you would normally get it for.

Mark, you can certainly solder Z track the same way as N. You just need to be a little more careful since the parts are smaller. A thermostatted, fine-tipped iron helps a great deal, as well as a tiny amount of liquid flux. Heat sinks attached to the rails (alligator clips work) can prevent damage to plastic ties, although if the soldering is done right, it should only take about one second or so to complete a joint.

By the way, love the cat.

That's Emma, RIP. She loved to lick my head (some claim it's why I'm balding).
