There will always be flaws if these are generic body styles applied to specific car classes; just a part of the game.  The PRR car is close enough for me based on my Color Guide.  

Um, MT could adapt a modular design system, like InterMountain's, with separate ends, roofs, doors, details and car bodies and that would not need to be the case.

Indeed, the "modular" Intermountain kits are great for kitbashing 40-foot boxcars (except Pullman-Standard) from the 1950s through 1980s.

MT has one caboose in Z, so this is understandable.

I don't think anyone is seriously holding Z scale models to the same standard as we've come to expect from N scale. While Z has been experiencing an "explosion" of new cars and locos in recent years the selection is still very limited.

Märklin's Z scale caboose is just a little closer to the mark...



Could perhaps be hacked into something serviceable.
