The "Fireball" is magnetic and removable:

Let's just hope that Lee's knowledge that the emblem is magnetic and REMOVABLE does not cause him to do the unspeakable.  Next time I'm at his house, I'll check to see if he has the world's first refrigerator decorated in the WM's fireball scheme.  ;D

Tasty.  Another WM survivor goes back into service.  Continuing testimony to the care and respect that equipment was given during its service career on the WM.

Let's see, we've got...
WM 236, an operational F-7, at the B&O Museum,
WM 82 operating in revenue service in Belington, WV for the West Virginia Central
WM 25, recently restored to WM livery and again at working moving coal out of George's Creek
WM 7446 SD-40 in service as FURX 3010 as a lease unit...
WM 7436 SD-35 now in service on BNSF as a R/C hump switcher
My favorite, WM3798, the last locomotive on the CSX roster to wear original WM paint, is now working a shortline in the midwest...
And now this S-6.

I'm sure there are others...

I'm sure the fireballs will end up in a basement somewhere, and just as well.  As noted in the caption, the S-6's didn't arrive on the property until 1956, and were delivered in speed lettering, sans fireball...

Thanks for posting that, Gregg...  That's great news!

Lee:

For quite a few years there was a WM switcher that worked at the north end of Crystal City, VA as a quarry of some sort.  Used to see it back of the building where I used to work.  I think it was an Alco but not sure.  Any info on what it was?

It may have been the same one that ended up working at Annapolis Jct. for Tarmac into the late 1980's.  That was an S-2, I believe.  Not sure of it's disposition at this point...

I remember talking last fall about what they were going to do with it.

We were trying to convince them to paint it blue to go along with our caboose that's stored there ;-) But I agree, the WM paint job is the right choice.

If anyone's going to go check it out, let me know, since, like I said, I happen to know of a special CR caboose that's parked right by it.

Looks like it was rebuilt, and stripped of it's dynamic brakes :(

Yes, and after dodging the Chessie bullet, it ends up with one of the worst looking paint schemes ever...  Hopefully she can retire with dignity one day, and be restored to her proper glory.
