What's REALLY wild is the industry on this west (south) side of the viaduct in Elkridge. The steps to the spur?
does no one have Impossible Challenge II? the industry is Hockley's grist mill and the chute is for shipping the finished product. this image appears on page 129 albeit in much better condition. notice that Lawyer's Hill Road grade crossing cuts across at a diagonal, the grade is still present today, and is sometimes used by cars that go over the guide rail coming from the left. also present is the old road down the hill on the Baltimore County side that came from Sutton Ave.
the photo is from the 1870's.
the house on the right next to the mill still stands today - the mill would be where the drive back to the buses is today.
