I have been drooling over the new Canon 40D for several months now, and after seeing it with a $200 rebate at BH Photo Video, I decided to take the plunge. Thursday marked my last day of shooting with my old trusty Digital Rebel, with a 13G being the final train:
13G was much more interesting than usual that day...in addition to the usual mix of agriculture-related empties coming from Delmarva, there were some good CR coil cars and gondolas. Since I had to split for work, this would be my last shot with the Rebel:
A lowly Conrail MOW gon of Reading heritage, class GR51M. So very appropriate, after how my shooting habits have been over the years.
So after 3 years 8 months, and 21298 pictures, the Rebel has been retired. But she won't be going away, instead, she has migrated into the hands of Russ Swinnerton, who will learn how to use manual mode even if it kills me.
Friday morning brought an early visit from the local UPS lackey, so I had time to go out and play a bit before work:
Later that night, did some night-shooting in Hummelstown:
Sunday afternoon I was able to pick off an 80MAC inbound to Enola Yard:
And that night, some more night stuff from Hershey:
