Think I'll bring an oscillating fan tomorrow. Won't stop the smoke but it will spread it around so more of the building can share its aroma.

The simplest solution is just to not let them run that crap ..

Personally, I think strollers should be banned inside buildings, like automobiles are. Around Thanksgiving, my family was eating at Columbia Restaurant in Ybor City, one of the best restaurants in the country, when some clown tried to cross the dining area with a "doublewide" stroller. Instead of saying "excuse me, I'd like to get through" he proceeded to bang the stoller into my chair until I got up in the middle of my meal to let him pass. If my wife and daughter hadn't restrained me, I would have decked him!

Sorry, Tom.

That wasn't the stroller, that was the a$$ that should be banned.

Generally speaking, I had a good time.  Picked up a couple of good deals and a rare find or two.
As for strollers, I think Tom exercised exemplary stroller etiquette.  There were a couple of those Medicare queens in their electric people movers that were less than pleasant.  I paused for a moment to inspect a table, and this broad sat there staring at me like I had stolen her parking place.  I smiled pleasantly, offered an "Excuse me," and stepped back, assuming she wished to pass, as the aisle was pretty crowded.

She hauled right up to the spot I was standing in a moment before, without saying a word, and started rummaging through the merchandise like a hog in search of truffles.

All I can hope is that God takes me before I become that kind of old poop.

My other beef was the preponderance of general merchandise vendors.  There were more places to buy T-shirts, Coffee Mugs and Videos than there were N-scale vendors.  The prices on the food were also a tad exhorbitant.  I ordered a large diet, and was handed a cup the size my daughter gets with her Happy Meal.  For $2.

But again, I came away with with a full bag and an empty wallet, and warm feeling in general.  So warm, in fact, that I think I need to go lay down...

And yes, it was great, as always, to meet some of you... some again, and some for the first time.  Always a pleasure.

I got there around 8am .. got some of the free vendor coffee .. put a couple of MP15s on the 1Trak layout .. troubleshot the crossover controller .. the switchit had some wires crossed .. finally got the tortoises to work ..

Then picked up some of traincats signal heads .. and a couple of packs of the type D signal kits .. I got out of Timonium for less than 50 bucks .. less gas ..

Saw the small gaggle at the RW meetup .. ran the other way :)

Didn't get away with spending a little.  Can't resist it when Morning Sun books comes out with some new material.  Otherwise just got 4 cars from Jerry and the a couple of the new DZ-125 decoders.  Once again it was great meeting fellow Railwire members.

Also the one where all the rugrats and running around and screaming.  Not complaining, at least they get interested in model railroading.

I'm complaining.

I advocate muzzles and leashes for children who you can't control. You can't walk around with a dog that can bite an pee on things, kids are just as bad...

picked up some classic metal cars from Jerry... best prices in the whole show for the tractor trailers anyway.... picked up some woodland scenic people....

got out for around $50 i suppose

spotted some rolling stock... a few V&T shorties that are kits... old school stuff.....a NKP flat that was a special run.... and a EL head end box car that can be justified behind a Bluebird.....probably into another $50 tomorrow when all is said and done......

now for the... should i or shouldnt i......i found a sweet old school Riv. 0-8-0 that is heavier than a torpedo and is dirty as a coal yard... i am talking attic dust here........ however... from limited research and feedback.... it will outpull a walthers 0-8-0 out of the box... however, i realize that isnt saying much since that out of box engine is essentiall a "kit"... but that is a discussion for another board....... just a point of information.... so did i buy it? no.... i am still debating.... however, i fear if it is there tomorrow i may have to salvage it.... understanding it requires a motor upgrade and even possibly some more weight.....a test run prior to purchase has no value.... the thing is in bad shape.....but fixable...

great putting faces with names (Bob).....and good seeing others... Tom and Lee and Max + the usual suspects....

I now know that I will be going to the shows in MD before I think about the shows in VA even if gas prices keep going up.  My feet are killing me from spending all day there walking around on the cement floors but I tell you I'm glad I got to met those of you there and look forward to seeing you guys at other events.  I ended up going to M.B. Klein after the show and spent more money there.  I've got some things I needed because of being new to the hobby.  Enjoy the show today (SUN) and the big game tonight.  I hope NY can pull it off or at least make it a game worth watching.

I'll bring a good local to run out to the paper mill.  I've got a scad of pulpwood and wood chip hoppers!

Lee

Lee,

Whatever happened to you and that local for the papermill?  We saved you a run slot, but you never showed!

John and Ed said you stopped by, and evidently there is photographic evidence, but I was switching OneTrak during the Railwire meet and I missed you somehow.

I had to bolt around 1 o'clock... my daughter's antennae went up that I was in town, so I had to go buy her a car battery... ::)
I also left there feeling kind of lousy, Brian ended up driving home, then I slept all day Sunday...  Maybe next time!
