Two new runner packs too; .. SP (overnight)

Previous MT SP Overnights were not on the right car - hence Chuck's SPecial run.

Are these just a reprint, or are they more proto-correct? (& yes, I do know this is MT I'm asking about)

If this is the same car that Chuck ran, I believe there were some tradeoffs ..

Lee,
When were these used?

Chris,
According to the Gospel According to Jack Brown (WM Freight and Passenger Equipment Color Guide) the WMRX cars were originally built by Merchants Dispatch Transportation Corp.  The WM leased the cars (hence the reporting marks WMRX) beginning in 1956, and they primarily saw service loading apples from the orchards of Franklin and Adams County (around Gettysburg) for shipment to the HJ Heinz plant in Chambersburg.  Photos of the cars in service in the book are dated 1967.  The cars would have "aged out" in 1971, so it's a safe bet that by '67 they would have been on the decline.  The roster numbers were #1-15.

I seem to remember seeing these cars with round heralds, but that would have placed them before 1954, which appears not to be the case.

From what I understand, the RBOX cars are going to be way off.

These Atlas Trainman cars (at <$10) are the real deal:

Railbox has FMC cars like the prototype Micro-Trains makes, however the problem is the Micro-Trains cars are

There are a lot of MTL cars that are pretty darned nice, but those FMC boxcars are a disaster - I always thought they were scaled improperly, like 1/165th scale.

But of course they are too short from the underframe to the roof to accomodate the overly tall running gear.

I have eliminated all of them from my roster.

From what I've seen, the MT FMC box car is a decent match to that Plate B FMC box car that was produced way back when which is wrong for the number series MT is doing, but then again, I could be wrong. The one thing I do know is that the number series that MT is doing for the runner pack was all sold off by '82...

Lol @ MTL and their lack of research.

I can see not wanting to retool the "SYL"s, as that'd cost lots of cash, but picking a better number series? Genius...

I will say one thing - the MTL guy who posts on Trainboard does sound interested in doing the right thing - and seems to take suggestions seriously...
