I don't know, I know these things got dirty, but I can't imagine they got THIS rusty while in service, but I am more than happy to be wrong about that.

Rain based dirt, soot & kicked up dust are one thing, but I feel as if a steam engine got this rusty there would be pretty severe safety considerations.

These comments are most certainly not to discourage you, but more for some guidance (if I'm right in my assumptions, otherwise, ignore me).

I don´t want to ignore you, Ed.. All you say is important for future weatheringworks  :)

The weathering looks good, but what's with the bent and broken handrails and stanchions?

You see, my friend has an very angry cat and the steamer has hit the floor more than once  ;D. Well, I´ll fix it before delivery.
