HEREThe Big Boy shots were multiple shots taken at different focal lengths and stitched together in Helicon focus. I use an cheap setup that looks like this:
Not pictured is a third painters light that I use to highlight directly on top of and slightly in front of the model. So I bought the cheapy painter lights from Home Depot and painted the insides Krylon white. The light bulbs are daylight corrected compact fluorescents. The background circ is just a piece of white cardstock.
As far as exposures go, I use the exposure compensation in the camera (the +/- settings on most camera's) and adjust them higher to burn out the backgrounds as much as I can without burning out detail in the model itself. After that I make adjustments in Photoshop and burn and dodge areas manually and apply a bit of sharpening. I also manually set the ISO to 100 to make sure the camera doesn't try to compensate via ISO for longer exposure times (high ISO produces a lot more noise depending on the camera).
