Knowledge lost, or just inattention?

Just received the latest TRAINS and Model Railroader today. In looking through TRAINS, there is a photo on Page 34 of a Northern Pacific local in Minnesota in October 1950 pulled by a Class "W" Mikado, with the locomotive in the standard 3/4 angle view. But, TRAINS identifies it as a "Consolidation"!!

Funny, I never knew Consolidations had inside bearing trailing trucks. (It is clearly visible in the photo.) Bad editing or lack of knowledge??

It's a steam engine... so who cares  :P

Ok, in all seriousness, probably edited at 1600hrs on a Friday (or they kept getting interrupted). Nothing ever gets done 100% that late in the week. If whoever knew enough to know there is such a thing as a Consolidation, they must have just made an error.

Lost knowledge. It's happening everywhere, not just in Trains magazine. Who wants to work for a cruddy salary putting out a trade publication, when publications are in decline?

Probably both.

Get it done, get it out the door, editing, what's that?
