Pennsy X29's

Its been years since Red Caboose has run Pennsy X29's. Many modelers want more road numbers. Unfortunately, Red Caboose ran too many and still has several dozen of the prior runs in stock.

I would like to gauge interest in new runs of the Circle Keystone and Merchandise Service cars. Twelve new road numbers would be offered. Such runs would be financed by my shop (also called Merchandise Service)... HOWEVER, I would allow other hobby shops to purchase full sets at their normal dealer discount in order to make this happen. So the consumer could still purchase the cars from their dealer of choice. (So I hope that makes this a reasonable post!)

Please contact me off-forum at sales@dsop.com and let me know which scheme you would be interested in, and how many. I suppose we could also consider the 1928 Dreadnaught End body. Both dealers and consumers are welcome to do this. This will NOT constitute a firm order!

P.S. Couplers would be Precision Masters, not Rapidos. (MT trucks and couplers are an option, but the bolster position on these cars, which is accurate, makes them look funny.)

I'd probably buy at least two Circle Keystone X29's. I'd have to think about ones with Youngstown doors and Dreadnought ends - I might get rid of the 3 Model Power "stand-ins" and get some accurate cars.
Would definitely want them with Micro-Trains trucks, though.

You know, a PRR VO1000 (or NW2) and a few period freight cars would probably look hot as anything on the layout at home... (no, no no!!!)

I used the RC trucks and body mounted MT 1015's, but as Jerry says, the MT's look a little funny, since you can't mount them far enough in, even with trimming the bolster.  (The car on the right is an MT with truck mounted couplers.)

I forgot that RC made any X29's for N&W, but it makes sense. They don't even list them on their website as "out of stock."  However, I did find some others that I want that still are in stock, so it wasn't a useless exercise.

Just don't paint over any MMID stuff ...

Here's a review of the RC X29/ARA box cars. The reference to kits means it refers to HO, but I believe the prototype information is useful and would apply equally to the N scale models. I can only trust that the reviewer's information is correct.

Don't be too optimistic about this run coming to light. Response has been underwhelming, unfortunately.
