Fonts

Of all the fonts on my computer which one is a match for Railroad Roman, like this:

I have searched for a while now and I can't seem to find this seemingly simple information online. It would take me hours to test each font and hope I can find the right one.

Century Schoolbook comes pretty close, and you may already have it available (it's built into Postscript printers). Here's a sample, stretched to 140% of normal width:



There are minor differences in the G, J, and Q, but it's not a bad match overall.

Chris take a look at Engravers MT in MSWord. I use it for RR Roman dimensional data in N scale and it is readable.

Adding a font is pretty easy to do. If you purchase it from Railfonts he will email it to you in a zip file.

All you need to do is go into "My Documents" and create a new folder. Call it fonts. Inside your fonts folder create another folder called "Roman" Unzip the font and direct it to load into your new Roman fonts folder.

Then simply go to: C:\WINDOWS\Fonts

Once inside that folder go to "File" and choose "Install New Font" and choose the Roman folder you just created and it will see the fonts. Choose select all and the fonts will be installed and ready to use.

You could always just fill in the letters and go to What the font? http://www.myfonts.com/WhatTheFont/ and have it tell you the closest match.

Well this is what 5 other sites said to do, but it doesn't work. When I click "Install New Font" the box that pops up gives me no way to select a "folder" it only lets me select a "drive" and even then if I put the fonts on a CD and select the drive the CD is in it says "no fonts found"

About 20 min ago I got to the point that I wanted to throw my computer out the window!  >
