Although I've been messing around with this car for three decades, I discovered some problems when I added the end reporting marks I got from Roland so worked on it very recently. It was originally a Rapido car, to which I added a Kadee underframe. Subsequently it was repainted. The paint was later removed using brake fluid, which reacted with the plastic, softening it. Remembering the expression, "when given lemons, make lemonade", I used the opportunity given by the softening to "beat up" the car to resemble a typical PRR gon while adding many additional details.

The car got further "beat up" when I used Walthers Goo to add a scribed styrene sheet floor, as the pipe load is unitized and removable. The Goo "gassed" and warped the body, causing the underframe to show on one end. This was corrected in my very recent work. The car was painted with Dollar Store red primer and decaled with Walthers decals.

Weathering was done with chalks. Darn, though, Mr. KLUKE's entry looks so good I very nearly didn't bother to enter...

Are you taking lessons from Kluke-doing things just under the wire &
under pressure? LOL! (just kidding Jeff!) 

It looks great HD-AWESOME NW logo with the typical "age run" of the
white!

Also, even though the N&W ran thru this area (now WLE again) I never had
the chance to notice their MW cars were that color!

You guys are giving me unrelenting pressure (not intentional) to jump back into
the challenges again-I'm "scheduled" for vacation time the end of June (2 wks)
& if ED picks something cool, I'll be "in" on the June challenge! (that was fun in
February-a bit under pressure but it showed me what I can do-& made my 1ST
EBAY sale possible!  ;D (That car BTW has a happy home now in a suburb of
Buffalo, NY!)

Grrr-I almost HATE voting in these-too many GREAT cars (& too good of "weathering" friends!)  ???

 ;D Boy what a night !
I started this car from  a LL 52.6' Mill gon lettered for the CB&Q.
removing the lettering was done with Joe's decal and lettering removale
paste.I then went and added some tin foil to replicate panel irregularities [1st time for that trick] this will be done again possibly on a boxcar side or door. Anyway, I undercoated the car with a acrylic light grey then adde the hand grabs and stirups. Next I mixed 3 different colors of what I precived to be the MoW green 1 color for the inside and 1 for the outside and the 3rd for the underside.
All the weathering was done with AIM's powders they where applied in different ways dry, wet then sealed with dull-cote.
I also used dry transfers for the 1st time, the N-W and M-W and
do not hump are all transfers the remaining lettering are decals.
