Found a couple of color print photos a half century old, probably the only color steam shots I ever took on print film, on Dec. 28, 1956, at Gainesville, GA, on the Gainesville Midland:




The colors had faded badly and I attempted to restore them using my Camedia software. And, yeah, the hostler is washing old 209 down in preparation for a road trip.

While doing a drive by at Sands Point LI ( 20-50 million dollar homes are the normal fare ) last week , before we ate , I took a side trip , ( thats what I told her ) to Manhasset gorge in the Great Neck area of LI . There is LIRR's longest trestle 680 feet or so . This was my first visit , even though its not that far away . I drove all around it , but a clear shot was not found . I hate trees even more now . Better shots are on the web . Its about 100 years old .

I'm still here in Ohio for a week of railfanning, so nothing new yet. I do have over 260 new locomotive pictures to put up on my site though. Too many freight cars to mention or ever realize when I'll finish them.

John, unfortunatly I have no software to cut pictures down loaded on my laptop. I also don't have WS-FTP Pro to upload them to my site. Obviously things overlooked that I will have to work on when I get back home and before I go on another trip.  : I do have my web page software loaded though.  : Besides, do you really want me posting the 85 new NS Dash-9 locos I have (not including going through todays pictures yet)? HA!  ;D

OK John, I uploaded this picture today for you. It is one of my favorite from the Fostoria area. I wanted to try and take some photos of the trains which had something that had a location stated in it. The train station would be great, as it has a nice "Welcome To Fostoria" sign on it. The problem, though, is that there is an overhead wire that is a pain and hangs down over part of the town name.

CSX C40-8W No. 7376 leads automotive train, Q242, east across the B&O/NS diamond on 25 May 2006. On Track 2, Q634 is making up its long train in the C&O yard and needed to come out on the mainline in order to finish its switching moves.

Next time you head out this way let me know, I can show some good places to shot the bridge from.
