Repainted Railbox/Bulging Sides

Just thought I'd share this with TheRailwire, not sure how many members check out www.modeltrainsweathered.com. This is my version of a repainted Railbox with bulging sides, I guess would be due to shifting loads although I've seen brand new cars with warped panels. I completely scratchbuilt the sides, braces & doors from strip & flat styrene  and using the ends of an Athearn boxcar. This is one of many attempts at bulging the panels and I need to refine my gluing skills to get things straight. I recently showed one of my first panels to Tom and Ed at Timonium. I used no heat in the bulging of the sides. I'm currently working on another car, working on a jig to get my braces straight. I'm also photographing the process for a possible step by step tutorial, article, whatever. As I said on the other forum, I'm not totally happy with the picture, to much lint stuck to the car, not sure if it was static from the styrene, brushed it off, came back. I also knocked off 4 door latches while photographing. Just wanted to show you the bulging. I realize my mistakes on this car, hope to do a better job on the next. I also plan on putting the rivets on the next car.

...I have to blow into the same horn here - this car looks very good !
ok, the decaling could be better (ohh, I'm in MM mode now...  ;)) but the overall looking is great and if you
are not happy with this car I would be glad to give you my address...

I think it would be really neat if someone modeled the bulging roofs from all those forklift mishaps. Usially the bulging occurs on eash side of the door.

Butch... looking at the bolges and at the waffles on the car I just posted (with a bulging roof), It appears as if this is where the horizontal supports would clamp to the sides in the car.

Butch, did you replace the entire car side with sheet brass, or do the ol' CA drops on the undecorated model before painting it?  The car looks absolutely fantastic!

I saw the Butch's prototype at the show and it looked wonderful.  Great effect.
