You could probably zoom through a whole unit train of them if you get a good fence set up on a chopper.

I’ve got a chopper that I built from a random arm of one that I acquired, a scrap piece of Masonite, and a piece of rectangular brass tubing. Only problem is that the tubing is just a little too far forward from the blade, so anything I cut hangs on by a hair, so I have to hold an extra little piece of tubing against the fixed one so I can get a clean chop.

Not sure how much longer the batteries are going to last.

But I'll run it until it stops.

Back to the drawing board for GRAFFITI/TAGS. Going to use decals, much easier and better looking than trying to DIY.

I've never had any luck freelancing graf's with pens and paint brushes either .. you might be able to work with some very fine point sharpie's .. they come in different colors, but decals are clearly the best .

I've never found a Sharpie that was fine enough for N scale.  Plus, the inks usually are not opaque enough, and they can run with some solvents like alcohol.

My preference is to use water-mix oil paints with a very small pointed brush. Put some paint on, then 'refine' the line edges with a dampened brush tip.   Time-consuming for sure, but the results IMHO can be better even than decals.

How cryptic  :|

http://davidksmith.com/modeling/layouts/NewportRockFalls/nrf2-5.htm

Is this no longer the setup?

Yes, it is.  I've changed the batteries several times since the layout has come into my possession.
I'm being a bit obtuse and metaphorical.  David is quite unwell.  Let's just leave it at that.

If only they made some batteries that were rechargeable...and maybe add a AC recharger to the circuit to keep the batteries charged. Coming up with a recharger for David (and the rest of us) is much more difficult. If only sending good thoughts worked, but I'll be sending them just the same.

I also visit from time  to time (after the updates stopped).  I guess no news is good news.  But all the same, what's happening is sad.  DKS is such a superb modeler who had so many clever ideas, many perfectly executed by him when he was still able to enjoy the hobby.

Fair enough, I clearly missed the allegory.
