Looking for thoughts on tree placement on my layout.

The layout will have exactly one tree (probably) and it will be dead.

For now I would love some input on the location:

1: between the beach bath house and the substation

2: between the beach bath house and the beach

3:behind the crossing

4: In front of the PRR bridge

5: Behind the enginhouse (not preferred already kinda visually busy)

John, Im liking behind the crossing. My second choice would be next to the substation.

I love the way the landscaping is drawn on the scenery and added in light sections of materials. I did that on
a scenic panel years ago and wish I would've done it on this layout. Lemo looks amazing!

I am going to vote for #4, but with the suggestion that it be moved to the left, closer to the "corner" where the road curves.  For 2 reasons- (1) in the position shown in #4, it is close to centered in line with the middle of the bridge, and the fire escape of the building- looks too intentional.  The second reason is that over by the corner seems more natural- where a tree might have survived all the industrial construction around it.  If it were in a place where it could fall on either the rails or the electric wires, it would have likely been removed by either the PRR or the electric company.  OK, make this 3 reasons...reason 3 being that patch of ground is at the corner is empty (compared to track, bridges, buildings) and the old tree there would give it more visual interest.

Anyway, that's my free advice.

I have a mind like a steel trap...a VERY rusty, old steel trap.

I’d go for the beach scene. A dead tree would contribute to the obvious ambiance of a recreational site in a heavy industrial area where you’d probably be dissolved if you went for a swim. Maybe nail a skull and crossbones to the trunk. :)

Thanks for all the responses.

After I add some charring marks from the lightning strike that destroyed it, I am going with @thomasjmdavis ’s reply.

As much as I the other placements, I agree that the visual will be best there.

About the beach; I think the beach area will be too crowded after the roads are in. I may opt for a swingset up next to the berm wall along with a teeter-totter.

I may add a small shade tree for a picnic table where I show the tree.
