No more grace period for editing new posts?
« on: July 26, 2023, 11:30:43 AM »
Every so often I post something, spot a typo, and click on "Modify" to correct the brain fart. Used to be there were a couple of minutes... five or so... where I could fix it without invoking the "Edited..." footnote.

Is that gone? I just fixed a typo less than two minutes after posting and got the dreaded "Edited..." notice, like I had posted something offensive and went back to cover my tracks.

I think the grace period's termination is when someone has read your post.
If it is unread before you modify it, no "edit" will show up, but if someone had, you get the "edit".

The grace period for edits is set at 90 seconds for users after you press post.  Edit / Delete posts was removed several years ago after some members would delete all their posts when they decided to leave.

Oh. Okay. I guess I was too slow with the re-read. Never mind.
