I like the idea. But I feel like the execution is falling a bit short. Like, the fade needs to extend further.
Alternately, a solid break would've looked better too.

Yes, the fade looks more like overspray. Making it wider will make it look intentional instead of unfinished like @packers#1 said.

It would have worked better if they has used the salt weathering technique to have the CSX paint chipping away!
