Finally Upgraded My Old DCS100/DT100.

Bought the DCS100/DT100 new back in '93. Eventually added the UT1 throttle.

Finally started having some issues, so started checking out what's new out there.

Stayed with Digitrax, and went with the DCS52 and UT6 handheld throttle.

Very pleased so far and perfect for my switching layout.

I've got a section of a siding track isolated, and two toggle switches  give me the options from a dead siding, to DC or dcc power, or a dcc program track.

So far so good with the new system. So much simpler to operate.

DCS52 is a great choice. Its perfect for small and temporary layouts, at least imho since I don't need to worry about incorporating throttle jacks or busting out the handhelds from my hobby bag.

Nice!

Yes, Digitrax has finally entered 21st Century when it comes to their human interface design.  No more cheesy tiny round buttons, and the new color display is actually informative (in a human readable form)

Amen to that.

I've spent time changing to 4 digit addresses, and playing around with several CV's. Very easy compared to my old system.

What??? Peter has something good to say about Digitrax?????  I notice it is highly qualified however.  :D  Maybe I need to start stocking up on ammo, guns and freeze-dried food.  Oh wait!  I already do that!  LOL!

Cheerio!

LOL Bob.  This is not the first time I praised Digitrax's new throttle design.  I give credit where it is due. That was back 3 years ago in https://www.therailwire.net/forum/index.php?topic=49920.msg669813#msg669813 . There is also something sexy about their DT602  throttles.  Can't quite put my hand on it (um actually, I can).   :D

But I'll never get used to their Ops switch nomenclature of "thrown" and "closed"  It is not even a lingo used by real railroaders.  I know as I asked about it here, and got answers from actual railroad professionals. It is just stupidly silly.  What's wrong with "on"  and "off"or "open" and "closed".
And the locomotives slots in their software design is also not on the list of things I like about Digitrax.  Especially in a model club environment where nobody ever seems to dispatch a locomotive.  At least the new booster/command station has  a simple button to clear the slots (not more fumbling with those silly Ops switches to clear the slots.

Uh-oh.

Pete likes the DT-602, a/k/a the "Marilyn Monroe" throttle (if you're over 60) or the Halle Berry Throttle (if you still have a pulse).

Hmmm… John are you inferring those of us over 60 might not have a pulse? 😁

I don't have a problem (even if she is wearing what young ones consider "old lady panties"), and I'm just under the big six-oh.  :-)
