An El Camino?!  (Trying SO hard to look like a sports car!)

My Top Gear watching is finally going to come in handy! It's a Holden Maloo. https://www.hsv.com.au/see/maloor8lsa/ It's essentially a Corvette drivetrain in a pick up/ El Camino body.

That's a nice looking Holden ute Al.  I'm a huge Holden fan, so sad GM retired the brand.  Even the US Air Force used Holdens to assist landing the U-2 spy planes.  Sold as a GTO, but 100% Holden.

Just was happy to find a replacement for my 3rd Gen Ranger. (And also REALLY, Really, REALLY Happy to find this one, period).

Actually, FORD is throttling down Ranger Production. Bronco is made on the same line and is selling just as much as the MAV''s. So, there need to be more, BRONC's. (make hay when the sun shines)..

...an El Camino on a Corvette chassis?!! Now I want one...except I couldn't ever drive it just because of the name (sigh).

I guess I'll just have to keep dreaming about getting a 2011-2015 Cadillac CTS-V Coupe (also a Corvette with Cadillac clothing)

Good progress Bryan and Scott!

My first equipment project for 2023 is an MLW M-420B.  This kit was issued by Briggs Models originally with cast resin parts and an etched fret.  The kit has now been re-issued as a 3D printed kit with an expanded etched fret including handrails:




I began by de-spruing and cleaning up the printed parts:




The pilot assemblies are designed to accept Micro-Trains #1015 couplers, which fit beautifully:




Here is the body shell with pilots added sitting on the Atlas B36-7 chassis:




The chassis will require milling for the fuel tank and frame rails, and conversion to wire pick-ups.

Tim, I’m near the finish line on four of the resin M420/b. I attempted to grind the chassis for fuel tanks on two units but managed to destroy them both. My experience was that with the material ground away, there isn’t much left to hold it together down at the bottom where the motor cradle inserts, and this is the failure point. I’ve since acquired replacement frame parts and had pretty much resigned to using unmodified frames and painting the exposed parts black.

I’m curious what your plans are?  Have you successfully made the modification? If so how did you do it and did you add any kind of support?
