Help with lighting on a LokSound micro direct KatoUSA
« on: October 29, 2022, 06:19:37 PM »

I have a Kato Challenger with factory installed DCC/sound. Decoder.
I want to add a light into the tender. The original decoder has a rear light (LED) mounted on the decoder. There are two bare connection points at the rear of the decoder. Per the manual these two connections are for Aux2. And a LED.
The onboard rear light comes on in reverse- but I can not get the Aux2 connections to power up the rear connections.?
Anyone have any ideas?

Hope that helps. I put mine in a Kato SD70 ACE

Do you have a LokSound Programer?
Some of the changes must be made using the Programer.

When you go to the decoder project there is function mapping
I have watched a few YT vids but I haven't got
 A handle on it yet

Do you have Aux2 mapped to a function key? Also, make sure it is the correct Aux2 (probably Aux2[1]). Also, I can't remember off the top of my head if that output requires a resistor for LED's, so be sure to address that first.

In the LokProgrammer, you need to uncheck "grade crossing" for that output to stop the flashing after blowing the horn. Even then, the output in question is still set up as a ditchlight. What kind of light is it supposed to be? Headlight?

I want it to be the reverse light, to only come on when loco is in reverse. 58741 is the decoder I'm using and by default f6 turns aux 2 on.
I think my issues is I didn't save the changes I made in function mapping
I'm going to try again tomorrow and uncheck grade crossing and figure out how to save the changes
