Ive been working on solving the problems of tractive effort. Prototypical train lengths and steam will be solved but now in a more refined and hidden manner. Here's a stretched Kato rsc-2 chassis under a MT baggage.
Still more work to do and weight to add.

Drasko,

There is a fellow who runs at the Belmont Shore Club layout that has "powered" 60 foot (?) boxcars. He runs a lot of brass steam (mostly SP) with very long trains. He posts on YouTube. This concept has a lot of merit. Look forward to seeing the final version....

Mike,  ill look him up. The hard part will be hiding powered 40-50ft boxcars with proper trucks/ close axle spacing. I'm hoping to start making my own mechanisms for those soon.

Cheater boxcars. Think one of the old mfgs used to make HO kits for that.

Funnily enough its a pretty standard practice in "Standard" T Gauge Still

Had a good time this weekend enjoying all things railroading. First, I was invited to operate on @SAH great layout, which was a real joy to learn switching operations on. Here's my switch run returning to the yard in front of the General Tire building.

The following day I went to Monroeville, Ohio, where there's a nice ex-NYC depot restored as a trailhead for the Northcoast Inland trail. I was doing some homework for an upcoming module based on the NYC Norwalk Branch with a great local historian. He showed me track charts of the line and elaborated on the exhibits inside the depot about local railroad history. The place is worth a gander if you're in the area on a Sunday. Anyway, I got a double dose of AC&Y this weekend, as I was invited to inspect a relocated depot in someone's backyard just out of town!

As for personal modeling, I started putting together my Showcase Miniatures NYC tri-lights. Here's the mast that will be in the middle of my Hiles Tower layout. Fingers crossed, I didn't kink the magnet wire too much, and the signals can be animated next month when I exhibit the layout in Altoona.
