Need A Good Pin Vise

Anyone have a suggestion for a good quality pin vise?  I'm looking for one that will handle a #80 (0.0135") bit size.  I bought a set from Micro Mark and all four in the set won't hold a bit tight enough to use.  Junk.

There was a thread on this very topic not all that long ago, but I use and recommend Starrett.

Yes this ^^^^^^

You can buy 10 cheap pin vises trying to find a good one, or just start with a Starrett 162A (0-1mm) and enjoy your modeling time.

Add me to the list of Starrett pin vice users.

My Starrett pin vices are by far the best I've had in the 65 years I've been building models. I got the four vice set a couple of decades ago and haven't looked back.  the 162A holds my .007" high speed steel bits for drilling in either plastic or brass, so I'm sure it will work for your #80 bits.

Cheerio!

Hi Doug:

I also have the Starretts.  Best I have had so far.

Tamiya also makes a nice one if you can't find a Starrett.

I also use the Starrett 162a. This reminds me that I need to buy the other sizes from the set.

I grabbed the Tamiya pin vice on your recommendation. It was more accessible to me than the Sterrett. My old one used to grip number 80s but it’s worn out and no longer will if that can be believed. The Tamiya grips far better than my old ever did.

Thanks!
