Let us know what you think of Dan Lewis' article - Designing a Townsite and what structures you are scratchbuilding or adding to your layout. We'd love to hear from you and see what you are working on.

I really want more "high end" modeling.

And I'll be brutally honest, the recent series about weathering felt a bit like Bob Hundman's series on tree types, but without the payoff. The work just wasn't that realistic looking.

But I'm not one for complaining without offering solutions. So take a look through https://conrail1285.com/ and see if there's anything you'd like to see in N Scale's pages. I've currently got one thing pending with RMC, a file going for something in next year's Model Railroad Planning and something just sent to the editor of MR. That means not EVERYTHING there is on the table, but I'm happy to offer anything not already spoken for.

Thank you for your comments. We are more than happy to feature more "High End" Modeling. The most recent series by Dan Lewis - Designing a Townsite aims at providing the modeler with a step-by-step approach to constructing a modest-sized town in N scale. It will feature six articles 1. Designing a Townsite 2, Kits and Kitbashing 3. Scratchbuilding 4.Streets & Sidewalks 5. Creating a corner module and 6. Pulling it all together. The opening article that was featured in the Jan/Feb 2022 issue explored the space advantages of N scale for creating such a town. It explores design elements for achieving a convincing result, the importance of sight lines and layering, operation potential, the importance of the era, materials and available kits, and how to create a styrene base, the importance of coving the corner and what make a convincing town. I am not sure what weathering series you are talking about that is not realistic looking. Dan Lewis is a master modeler, with attention to detail, achieving outstanding, realistic modeling, in my opinion, "High End" modeling.  This is definitely more than just a weathering article series, nothing similar in depth to anything we've ever featured in N-Scale Magazine as a series.
We are definitely interested in your articles on A Major Milestone in Windsor St Yard. I am not sure what articles you have already spoken for. Please contact us so we can discuss this further.

I wonder if Ed means the "In the pursuit of WOW!" long running series of articles.  Some of them seem to show very brightly finished models (more like something for toy layouts, not "high end"). Almost whimsical.  However the recent article which demonstrated resin casting techniques was quite interesting to me.
. . . 42 . . .

Yes, that's what I meant. I couldn't remember the name of it while I was posting yesterday. You captured my feelings perfectly. I'm sure there were fans, but it didn't suit personal interests.

I always saw N Scale Magazine as demonstrating that N scale was full of "serious modelers" just as much as HO or other scales.

I'll have to check out the resin article.

I have to start writing again.
There's a shyness found in reason
Apprehensive influence swallow away
You seem to feel abysmal take it
Then you're careful grace for sure
Kinda like the way you're breathing
Kinda like the way you keep looking away
